Marland's Grand Home Tour
Second Floor Landing and Indian Museum

On the second floor landing or common area looking north you will see the characteristic windows of Marland's Grand Home. The landing and adjacent rooms are home to one of the most extensive and diverse collections of Native American Indian artifacts in the State of Oklahoma. Indian men, women and children are represented.

Primarily these displays focus on the Plains Tribes of North America, but includes a unique collection of Southwest and Northwest Coastal Tribes as well as a very broad photo collection.

There are over 1,200 artifacts in the collection; seventy percent of them are on display, representing over 40 different tribal affiliations. This sets the museum apart from any other in the region.

Exhibits coordinated by Dwight Howe our Native American Cultural Advisor.
The landing houses an excellent art exhibit by Walt Harris, a well known local Otoe Indian artist, whose paintings alone are well worth seeing. Native American Children are emphasized in this area through photos, games, hand made dolls, cradleboards, beaded moccasins and jewelry.

Looking toward the south (below) you will see the
suspended staircase and on either side more artwork. On the left is the heritage bedroom of Lydie Marland. On the wall leading to Lydie's room you get a closer look at Walt Harris' artwork. The center frame has a photo of Mr. Harris himself and a brief history. On the right is another heritage furnished room and beyond that more Native American displays.

Perhaps you will recognized some of them.
